Planting and flowering details
Show morePlant the rhizome of the water lily in a horizontal manner in a large pond basket filled with special water lily soil. Line the basket with a piece of jute, place the water lily in the basket and fill with soil. Cover everything with the remaining jute and sprinkle with a layer of gravel. For a rich bloom, choose a sunny spot in the pond and place the basket at the correct depth. Light shade is also tolerated.
Show moreIn autumn, remove the dead leaves of the water lily from the pond. Place the basket at least 40 cm deep in winter in order to prevent freezing. Is the water lily too large? If so, in May you can dig up the roots and cut the thick rhizome with a knife into smaller pieces and replant them again.
