Planting and flowering details
  • Planting
  • The fragrant Trachelospermum jasminoides Star of Toscane (='Selbra') grows best in potting compost. Choose a large flower pot or planter with holes in the base. Cover the bottom with potsherds or a layer of hydro granules. Add a layer of potting compost and plant the Trachelospermum jasminoides Star of Toscane (='Selbra') root ball at the correct depth. Fill the pot with potting compost and press firmly down. Water immediately after planting. Place your fragrant Star Jasmine in a sheltered, sunny spot on the patio or decking.
Trachelospermum jasminoides Star of Toscane (='Selbra') in the garden
Fragrant jasmine combines well with other pot plants. A striking and fragrant combination on your patio would be Trachelospermum jasminoides Star of Toscane (='Selbra') with Jasminum officinale (common Jasmine) with white flowers, the yellow Trollilus (Globe Flower), Lemon scented geraniums and hanging roses. It is also possible to put your Star Jasmine in the ground for the summer (pot and all), but do not forget to dig it up again before the first frosts and store in a frost free area.
