Show moreThis ornamental grass grows best in the garden in moist but well-drained, humus rich soil. Prepare a suitable hole and plant the Japanese Blood Grass 'Red Baron' at the appropriate depth in the hole. The top of the root ball should be just slightly below ground level. Fill the hole with soil and press firmly. Water immediately after planting. Poor soil can be improved by mixing in some sharp sand. It is important to give it a sunny position. This grass grows well in full sun or light dappled shade.

Make sure the soil around the roots does not dry out, although waterlogged soil is not tolerated, especially in winter. In autumn it dies back above ground.
