Planting and flowering details
Show moreYou can plant Ranunculi tubers immediately after receiving them in either the ground or in a pot. When planting the tubers, make sure that the depth of the hole is twice as large as the height of the tuber. A 5 cm tuber thus needs to be planted in a 10 cm hole, spaced approximately 10-15 cm apart. Fill the hole with soil. Plant them in good, loose soil. You can plant the ranunculi using a trowel or a special bulb planter. Make a larger hole when planting a large group, the more you plant the more pleasure you will receive from this superb mixture.
Ranunculi in combination with other plantsThe lovely flowers of ranunculi should definitely not be missing in your border during the summer. Plant ranunculi along with Chinese foxglove (Rehmannia Elata), Geranium 'Birch Double' and the Inca lily (Alstroemeria Aurea 'Lutea').
Show moreWater your ranunculi regularly to prevent the soil from drying out. Remove the faded flowers regularly to encourage a second flowering. For a more abundant flowering, it is recommended to add plant food along with water during the summer.
Overwintering ranunculiRanunculi tubers store well in winter. After the first night frost, carefully dig up the plants. Cut off all stems 15 cm above the tuber. Shake the soil from the tuber and let them dry. Place them in a box of compost and sharp sand. Store the box in a frost-free area. Attach a label with the name of the Ranunculus asiaticus to remind yourself for the following year. By the following spring, you can plant your tubers again and your ranunculi will reward you with its beautiful flowers.
Show moreThe beautiful flowers of ranunculi are the highlight of a flower arrangement. They resemble small, hearty, filled roses. Therefore, a group of ranunculi should definitely not be missing in your garden. The flowers can also last for a very long time in the vase. Pick the flowers preferably early in the morning. Immediately place the stems of the ranunculi directly into a vase full of lukewarm water and cut flower food.
