Planting and flowering details
  • Planting
  • We recommend planting Primula acaulis ‘Zebra Blue’ as soon as possible after delivery, in a flower pot or a patio container. Choose a pot with holes in the base to provide adequate drainage. Cover the bottom of the pot with potsherds or a layer of hydro granules. Put potting compost or special tub plant compost in the pot and place the Primula acaulis ‘Zebra Blue’ root ball at the right depth. Fill with compost and press firmly down. Water generously immediately after planting and put the pot in a spot in full sun or (partial) shadow.
    Primula acaulis planting combinations
Single flowered primulas look appealing when added to a spacious planter, flower pot, or a basket. You can create a cheerful winter hanging basket with Primula acaulis ‘Zebra Blue’. During the flowering period Primula (Elatior Group) ‘Zebra Blue’ can be enjoyed as an indoor plant when placed in a cool spot.

  • Care
  • Water your Primula acaulis ‘Zebra Blue’ regularly, so that the soil doesn't dry out. Remove the dead flowers to stimulate prolonged flowering. For an extra rich flowering we recommend adding plant food to the irrigation water on a regular basis. Even though these plants are hardy we recommend that primulas in pots are temporarily kept indoors when there are signs of frost. After flowering you can plant these primroses in the garden.
