Flowering Period

Planting and flowering details
  • Planting
  • Plant the richly flowering petunia as soon as possible after receipt, in the garden or in a pot. Dig a hole and improve poor garden soil with potting compost or well-rotted manure. Plant the petunias approx. 20 cm apart. Fill the pots with soil (always use fresh potting compost) and press firmly in. Water immediately after planting. In full sun, Petunia will flower abundantly, all summer long.
Petunias in pots and hanging baskets
The petunia is excellently suitable for planting pots, boxes and hanging baskets. In spring, place the young plants close to one another in fresh potting compost. You can create beautiful combinations with, for example, Lobelia, trailing geraniums and Verbena.

  • Care
  • Using a fertiliser regularly will provide rich flowering: during the flowering period regularly add fertiliser when watering your Petunias Viva® 'Blue Stardust' and Petunias Viva® 'Pink Stardust'. Also regularly deadhead spent flowers to stimulate and extend flowering.
As soon as possible after receiving your Petunia Viva® 'Blue Stardust' and Petunia Viva® 'Pink Stardust' plants you can plant them in the garden, in pots or hanging baskets. Prepare a plant hole and improve poor garden soil with compost or potting compost. Place the petunias approximately 20 cm apart, fill the hole with more soil, press down firmly and water immediately after planting. Use fresh potting compost for pots. In a sunny spot these magnificent Petunias Viva® 'Blue Stardust' and Petunias Viva® 'Pink Stardust' will be smothered with masses of flowers throughout summer.

  • Specifics
  • Petunias are particularly popular in hanging baskets, especially effective when the flexible stems cascade, however they are also ideal for the garden as the stems can lie on the ground and form a beautiful flower carpet. That is why the plants of Petunia Viva® 'Blue Stardust' and Petunia Viva® 'Pink Stardust' are excellent border plants. You could fill a bed with these summer flowers surrounded by low ‘Box’ (Buxus) hedges with these summer bloomers. Or create beautiful borders along a driveway or along the garden path with these very remarkable petunia flowers. The stems can also trail from a low wall like a waterfall.
    How to use
Petunias come into their own in hanging baskets, in planters on the patio or decking, or in beds and borders. Try filling a low ‘box’ hedged bed with petunias - such lovely summer flowers. Or, decorate a border along the garden path with the lovely dark coloured flowers. The stems full of flowers will also hang wonderfully over a low wall. From late spring right up to the first frosts you can enjoy colour in your garden or on your patio! Although not really for cutting, the flowers do look quite pretty in a summer bouquet
