You could stand your Parlour Palm (Chamaedorea elegans) in a pretty planter. Cover the bottom with a layer of potsherds or hydro-pellets and stand the plant with the nursery pot supplied on top of them.
Or, pot it up into the planter itself with fresh potting compost over the potsherds. Plant the Chamaedorea elegans at the correct depth, then fill the pot with more potting compost, press firmly in and water immediately.
You could also just stand the plant in its nursery pot on a saucer. Water immediately. Don't allow drained off water to stay in the saucer for longer than 24 hours.
Stand this plant in a nice light spot in your home out of the midday sun - morning or evening sun won't be a problem. Do not allow this parlour palm to dry out.
