Planting and flowering details
  • Planting
  • Soak these pot grown rose bushes in a bucket of lukewarm water for half an hour before planting. Prepare a large hole, loosen the soil thoroughly with a fork and improve poor soil with the addition of some compost and granulated cow manure. Remove the rose bush from its pot and plant at the correct depth - the top of the root ball should be one centimeter below soil level. Fill the hole with the improved soil, heel well in and water generously. A spot in full sun or partial shade is necessary for an abundance of flowers.
Potted Spray Roses on Patio or Decking
This very attractive spray rose is also great for planting in a pot on the patio. Use an ornamental flower pot with holes in the base for drainage. Cover the bottom with a layer of gravel or hydro granules and add fresh potting compost mixed with a little granulated cow manure. Water immediately after planting then place the pot in a position in full sun or partial shade.

  • Care
  • The spray rose should be pruned every spring. This is actually very simple: in March prune the branches back to within 3 to 5 eyes (buds). Leave about five big branches per bush. The roses you receive from us have already been pruned, so you do not have to prune for another eighteen months.
    Fertilising roses
The spray rose relies on plant food for a rich flowering. Therefore regularly apply a fertiliser. During the winter sprinkle granulated cow manure around the base of the bush. In spring apply a mixed organic fertiliser and in July use the special rose fertiliser. Check on the packaging for the correct amount to be used.

  • Specifics
  • Most roses actually grow on ‘borrowed’ root stock from wild varieties with strong root systems, this is called grafting. But this variety didn’t need this type of help to grow nice healthy plants. Their roots are so strong that these rose bushes are completely self-sufficient. All grown from cuttings that root themselves (so not at all grafted). Cuttings are grown under special conditions to allow them to root healthily.
This strong variety of spray rose produces lovely flowers. The flowers are semi-double and appear all summer long. Spray roses look great in a container on the patio but this exceptional rose bush can of course be planted straight into the garden. Planted in groups, the bountiful blooms look even better.
All roses (Rosa) are classified under Rosaceae.
