    Planting method
Plant in the garden, preferably in full sun from March up to June. Loosen the soil with a fork to at least 30 cm. Draw a straight furrow of around 4 cm deep and label the row. Plant at 10 cm intervals. Cover your onion sets with about 3 cm of soil, press lightly down and sprinkle with water. Extra rows at 30 cm apart.

  • Care
  • Requires NO extra fertiliser to improve quality at all. Do water extra during dry periods and keep the bed weed-free - your onion plants will then thrive.
    Harvesting
Onions can be harvested from summer onwards. Dig them up one for one, using a small gardening trowel - loosen the soil around the onion and then carefully pull each onion out of the soil. They will then need drying before they can be stored - just lie them in the sun (off the ground somewhere sheltered) until the leaves have turned yellow and dry. They can then be stored long term. Do harvest all before the autumn rains.
