Myrmecodia 'Adventure' - Plant

Myrmecodia 'Adventure'
Myrmecodia 'Adventure'

A perfect houseplant!

This rather bizarre houseplant can be found growing naturally in tropical trees like the mangroves in SE Asia and Australia. A very remarkable plant, it forms a kind of tuber at its base, making it exceptionally decorative, particularly as it is covered in sharp spines. This is a strong plant, easily cared for that can withstand quite some drought. This all makes it practically speaking, the perfect houseplant to have around.
Intenz Home® offers exclusive plants with a very modern look about them. Each and every one is a plant that will really set you apart. Intenz Home® is all about trends, exclusiveness and plants with character.

  • Specifics
  • This particular Myrmecodia flowers with white trumpet-shaped flowers when it feels properly 'at home'. Myrmecodia is usually grown specifically for its unusually pretty shape. These plants are native to mangrove swamps in Southern Asia. Myrmecodia is what is known as an epiphytic plant - it grows on the branches of the mangroves without removing any nutrients from the mangrove itself. It forms a swollen stem just above the roots. These stems are hollow and in the wild are colonised by a special species of ant which provide extra nutrition for the plant. European ants do not do this.
    Myrmecodia is classified under Rubiaceae.
