Planting and flowering details
Show moreThis Dwarf Aster Mix grows best in the garden. Prepare a suitable hole in loose, nutritious soil. Improve poor garden soil by mixing in compost and granulated cow manure. Plant the Dwarf Asters at the appropriate depth in the hole. The top of the root ball should be just slightly below ground level. Fill the hole with soil and press firmly. Water immediately after planting. Dwarf Asters grow well in a sunny area, semi shade or a shady position.
Bushy Asters Are Great In The BorderDwarf Asters add lots of colour to a late summer border. Combine them with other asters such as daisies, lily turf (Liriope Muscari 'Moneymaker'), ornamental grasses and autumn anemones. These bushy plants are compact and cover the surrounding soil, which makes them ideal in the border, as well as on the patio or along a garden path.
Show moreBushy Asters are very strong, hardy garden plants. Be sure to prevent the soil from drying out around the roots. In winter the plant will die back. Protect the plants over the winter with a layer of leaf litter. Apply some garden fertiliser in early spring and cut it right back and you will soon see some new shoots. If clumps have become too large, divide the plant into smaller pieces using a sharp spade and replant in the spring.
