Planting and flowering details
  • Planting
  • The aquatic plant, Mare's Tail, is best used in a pond basket. Cover the basket with jute and fill the pond with special soil. Plant Mare's Tail in the basket, fill with soil and add a growth ball. Cover everything with the remaining jute and sprinkle with a layer of gravel. Place the basket just below the surface or up to 10-40 cm deep in the pond; a depth of 70 cm is even possible. If your pond is not too shallow, you can place your basket within a pile of stones. This plant can also grow in a large tub with water. Place this plant in complete or partial sunshine. The best time to plant is between May and June.
Mare's Tail is a great pond plant
Since Mare's Tail grows well in deep water, it has therefore more features than ordinary pond plants. A large group of Mare's Tail will look beautiful in a big pond. It combines perfectly with Myriophyllum Aquaticum, which is an oxygenating plant that can also grow well in deep water.
