Liatris spicata - Bulb

Liatris spicata
Liatris spicata

Known as gayfeather or dense blazing star

Liatris Spicata, also known as Blazing Star, is a very useful garden plant. This very hardy corm-like perennial produces tufts of grassy leaves at its base and spikes of 'bottle-brush' flowers, which open from the top downwards in brilliant mauve-pink. Flowers stand 60 - 80 cm high from June until September. Liatris loves sun and prefers slightly moist soil conditions. You'll also find that Liatris look best in groups. They are excellent cut flowers and especially effective in a mixed bouquet.
