Aloe pentagona
Kokodama® Aloe pentagona

Join in with the new Japanese trend - kokedama!

This Aloe is another strong plant that is easy to grow in our homes. Especially in the beautiful hanging basket of compressed natural materials by Kokodama®, in a macramé rope construction! Exceptionally decorative too with the sturdy leaves slowly growing in a spiral around and up the main stem of the plant. A very unique plant - really decorative. This succulent is particularly easy to care for. In the wild, this plant would grow in somewhat shady spots in arid areas of South Africa. Aloe pentagona was recently renamed and is now also known as Astroloba spiralis.
This plant comes to you together with the Kokodama® hanging basket.

  • Care
  • Astroloba can withstand drought and needs moderate watering. The soil should be on the dry side. Give it a good watering rather now and then is preferable to frequent watering in small quantities and preferable with rainwater. From spring to August, occasionally add a little fertiliser when watering. Make sure the plant has good drainage, wet soil at the bottom of the pot is poorly tolerated. Reduce watering during the winter, but do not let the soil around the root ball dry out completely. In winter place the astroloba in a cooler room. You will sometimes get a flower stem, but the plant will not flourish every year. In summer, this plant is also suitable for the patio.

This variety of Astroloba spiralis was recently officially renamed so is actually better known as Aloe pentagona. The Astroloba is subdivided under Asphodeloideae and these are again part of the family called Xanthorrhoeaceae.
