Planting and flowering details
  • Planting
  • Alcea rosea annua is a real sun worshipper. Give this romantic summer flowering plant the ideal spot in front of a sunny south facing wall or fence

As these hollyhocks are low-growing, they will also look good in the middle of the border or flower bed - resistant to strong winds there is no fear of them being blown over.

Well-drained, somewhat sandy soil is perfect for hollyhocks. Plant at 50 cm intervals.
    Hollyhocks and climbing roses
Hollyhocks look great combined with many other plants. Rambling roses grow well in the same spot and make great companions to the hollyhocks. Cover your sunny wall or fencing with both ramblers and hollyhocks. Lavender goes well with them too and the combination looks beautiful!
