The hedge consists of:

1x Lilac (Syringa vulgaris)

1x Mock Orange (Philadelphus virginal)

1x Wild Rose (Rosa Rugosa)

1x Winter Honeysuckle (Lonicera fragrantissima) and

1x Butterfly Bush (Buddleja davidii). Height supplied 40-50 cm. 5 shrubs for every 4.5 meters.

Flowering Period

Planting and flowering details
  • Planting
  • The best time to plant your Fragrant Hedge Collection is from October to April. Prepare a hole 60-80 cm and improve the soil with compost and manure. Soak the plants in water for one hour before planting. Divide the shrubs in the hole, about 5 plants per 4.5 meters. The hedge will be about 1.5 m wide. The top of the root balls should be at ground level in the garden (please note that some land will collapse). Fill with soil, and give them lots of water so that it almost turns into a swamp.

  • Care
  • During the first year water on a regular basis. After that, it is only necessary to provide water during dry periods. In winter, cover the ground under the hedge with garden compost and manure.
    Fragrant Hedges can be pruned
The Fragrant Hedge Collection can be pruned twice a year. Prune Syringa Vulgaris, Philadelphus 'Virginal' and Lonicera Fragantissima after they flower in June. Prune Rosa Rugosa and Buddleja Davidii sharply during the spring. The Fragrant Hedge Collection can have a free shape and doesn't need to be cut tight.
