Double Begonia Mixed - TuberBegonia x tuberhybrida
Pretty, flowering indoor plant
Begonias will bring you months of colour at an affordable price, every day from early summer well into autumn. Plant these begonias in beds, along borders or in groups. They also make excellent pot plants for the patio or decking. Wherever you plant them, they will inject a vivid splash of colour. They are very undemanding, requiring very little care and they flower in great abundance. The tubers can be planted out again each year if kept cool and frost-free in winter.Show more
Planting and flowering details
Show moreThe ideal time to plant begonias is in the spring, once the frost period has finished. Plant the tubers with their concave side facing upwards, about 20 cm apart from each other, and cover them with a thin layer of soil. Do you want to enjoy the colours of your begonias earlier? If so, plant the tubers in planters in February or March before putting them outside in the garden. The warm temperature of your house will allow your Double Begonias to bloom earlier. This way, you can admire them for much longer. The young plants do not like to be subjected to too much sunshine so to begin with choose carefully where they are placed. Begonias are also great in borders and planters on the patio or decking.
The tuberous begonia as a bedding plantThe begonia grows well in flower pots or planters but it also makes a terrific bedding plant. Especially when planted out in large groups the begonia always makes a statement in the garden. The flowers are mostly very large and appear throughout the summer.
Show moreDouble Begonias have tubers that can be preserved throughout the winter. We recommend lifting the tubers from the ground when the first frost is predicted. Keep them in a dry place during the winter. In spring, once there are no more night frosts, you can plant the begonias back out in the garden. Soon you will be enjoying the colourful flowers.
Begonias with a rich bloomDouble Begonias prefer a spot in partial shade. However, if they are placed under full sunshine, make sure you give them plenty of water (approximately 2-3 times per week). Water the plants in the afternoon once the sun has disappeared, otherwise, the leaves may burn. Begonias appreciate some fertiliser on a regular basis, they will then become richer and provide you with more beautiful blooms.
Show moreThis tuberous begonia leaf has an asymmetric shape with one side longer than the others. Begonias are colourful bloomers, their colours can be combined with others to make them look even more appealing.
