Calathea 'Compact Star'
Calathea 'Compact Star'

This shade loving house plant purifies the air!

The decorative Calathea “Compact Star” loves shady corners that most other indoor plants would find it too dark. Ironically, this plant sleeps in the evenings. All the leaves turn upwards at night. This eye-catching Calathea “Compact Star” comes from the jungles of South America and Africa. It is easy to care for and has beautifully marked and shaped leaves.
Calatheas also produce clean air!
The leaves of this plant absorb significant quantities of hazardous gas particles in your home (see Details) and provide oxygen in return! These plants create an indoor atmosphere that is better for everyone. Its air-purifying effects can be used in homes, schools and offices. Give yourself the gift of purified, humidified air with this beautiful plant.

How to plant the Calathea in a pot?
This houseplant is delivered in a standard growers pot. It’s best for the growth of the Calathea to plant it in a decorative planter. Select a pot that is at least 20 percent larger than the growers pot.
Cover the bottom of the decorative planter with a layer of potting soil. Does the decorative pot have a hole? Then start with a layer of hydro grains, so the water can drain away. The Calathea should be 1 to 2 cm below the rim. Remove the growers pot and place the plant in the middle of the decorative pot. Fill the pot with fresh potting soil and press it down slightly.

How to take care of the Calathea?
The Calathea is a real jungle plant you have to water regularly. Try to keep the soil slightly moist and check this every now and then by pressing your finger into the soil. The plant should certainly not be standing in a layer of water.
Good air humidity of 60 to 70 percent is also important. Otherwise, the leaf edges may dry out. When the air is dry, spray the leaves once or twice a day. Also make sure the Calathea remains in partial shade.

  • Specifics
  • If you take good care of the Calathea, the plant will take good care of you too! With its large leaves, it converts contaminated substances in your home into oxygen. Solvents in your furniture are released into the air. Too high a concentration of such gases can cause headaches, for example. The Calathea reduces the risk of Sick Building Syndrome.
