Show morePlant Gaillardia aristata 'Kobold' in light, well-drained soil in a sunny position, although they will grow well in most soils and partial shade. The soil must have a good drainage as badly drained soil will cause the plant to die in winter. Prepare a suitable hole, improve heavy garden soil with some sharp sand before planting the blanket flower at the appropriate depth in the hole. The top of the root ball should be just slightly below ground level. Fill the hole with soil and press firmly. Water immediately after planting.

However, do not let the soil around the roots dry out completely. During the flowering period regularly add plant food when watering. Also cut the wilted flower stems to stimulate new flowering. If you keep on cutting them for the home, it promotes the growth of the plant and you will continue to enjoy the flowering throughout the summer.
