Roses are a very popular addition to many gardens, and this is largely due to the fact that they are undemanding and easy to grow. It is important to allow them the correct amounts of sunlight and water; plant them in a sunny place with some shelter from strong winds for best results. Roses needs watering in dry periods as they are sensitive to drought and need soil with good drainage so they do not become waterlogged. They should be planted in autumn or spring, but not during periods of frost. Roses can be fed with all-purpose fertiliser in mid- to late-spring, and can be pruned in late winter/early spring.
